Make a one-time baby porridge with Chinese yam, apple, and carrot. It doesn’t need to be monitored and can be prepared in just 7 minutes. It’ll be ready in an hour.
Hi Moms and Dads! Are you looking for an easy and healthy meal to make for your baby that won’t take too much time? Look no further because I’m here to share a great and delicious recipe that’s perfect for babies 7 months and older.
Today, I’m making something special with my favourite ingredients – slow cooker porridge! Porridge is a great way to introduce grains, like oats and quinoa, to your baby’s cuisine and it’s super handy for those busy days when you just don’t have the time to prepare something complicated. All you have to do is chuck everything in a slow cooker and you’re good to go!
So, let’s get started.
You’ll need :
- one tablespoon of quinoa
- one tablespoon of grain rice
- 20g of carrot, cut cube
- 20g of Chinese yam, cut cube ( there are two type of Chinese yam, one from Japan, one from china, depending on your choice) Japan Chinese yam pricing is slight higher than China.
- 20g of fresh apple
- 3g shiitake mushroom powder for natural flavor.
- 3g scallop powder for natural flavor
- 150ml water
Are you ready to cook?
To prepare the baby porridge, follow these steps:
- Turn on your slow cooker on the “baby porridge” function.
- Add all the ingredients mentioned above into the slow cooker.
- To enhance the overall flavor without using salt or sugar, we are using natural superfood powder with no added MSG, salt, or sugar. These powders are made from fresh, natural ingredients.
- Mix everything together until they are evenly combined. Give it a good stir.
- Close the lid and let it auto cook for 90 minutes.
- Once the porridge is ready, turn off the heat and stir it again. Let it cool down before ladling out into individual servings.
- And voila – you now have a delicious and nutritious meal for your little one!
But WHY 90Minutes?
The slow cooker method helps to create a very soft texture that is suitable for babies as young as 7 months old to swallow. So, once the porridge is ready, you can rest assured that it will be easy for your little one to digest and enjoy. It’s important to note that the above ingredients and slow cooker setting are for a thicker porridge.
If you prefer a different texture for the porridge..
You can adjust the cooking time or function to achieve your desired consistency. For example, if you prefer a thinner porridge, you can increase the amount of water or decrease the cooking time by using high mode. On the other hand, if you prefer a thicker porridge, you can reduce water or increase the cooking time.
Additionally, some slow cookers may have different settings or functions that can be used to customize the cooking process. So, be sure to check your slow cooker’s manual for instructions and tips on how to adjust the settings to achieve your desired texture.
Overall, the beauty of making baby porridge in a slow cooker is that it allows you to experiment and customize the texture and flavor to suit your baby’s preferences and needs.
By the way,
I highly recommend using the type of mini slow cooker (has been used for 5 years, still well functioning) that the above settings and ingredients are based on. This slow cooker has the ability to pre-set the timer and adjust the cooking time accordingly, making it convenient for busy parents to prepare healthy meals for their babies. Additionally, the temperature control ensures that the porridge has a nice texture that is suitable for babies, without requiring any additional steps such as blending the food. The outcome of the porridge is smooth and easy to swallow, which is perfect for babies who are starting to explore different textures of food.
And……..SUITABLE FOR TRAVEL USE, It is so so so so much convenient!
The best thing about this dish is that it’s so simple and easy to prepare. Plus, you can always experiment with different toppings and flavors to keep it interesting for your baby.
I hope you like this recipe as much as I do. If you try it out, please be sure to tag me or let me know how your little one liked it! Until next time – take care!
